This policy describes how Tern AI INC ("we", "us") handles information collected through the Tern AI INC Job Notification program, an optional SMS service for authorized Tern AI INC personnel who use our internal tools. It covers only that program.
Only the mobile number you enter when enrolling, and the fact that you selected the consent checkbox for that request; the second is sent with the first, and the request is refused without it. The name of the region you edited travels with them, so the message can say which edit finished; it describes your work, not you. We do not collect your name, carrier, device identifiers, location, or the content of any reply through this program.
Solely to send you the transactional messages you asked for: a one-time confirmation that you enrolled, and a notification for each processing stage of your request telling you it has finished and whether it succeeded. We also count how many messages we have recently sent to a number, so that a fault cannot text you repeatedly. We do not use your number for marketing, profiling, or any other purpose.
We do not store your mobile number. It is held only in the memory of the service that sends the notification, for as long as the job takes to run, and is discarded once the message has been sent. In no case is it held longer than 24 hours, whether or not the job ever finishes. It is not written to a database, a log file, or an error report. Records that reference a notification show only the last four digits of the number.
One derived value outlives the message by up to an hour: to count recent messages as described under "How we use it", we keep a one-way cryptographic hash of the number, with a timestamp, and discard it when it falls outside that window. The hash cannot be turned back into your number; it only lets us recognize that two messages were addressed to the same handset.
Because the number is not retained, we keep no notification history and cannot resend past messages. Our SMS delivery provider does keep its own delivery records, as any carrier or messaging platform does, and we may consult them to avoid sending you a duplicate enrollment confirmation.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. The categories of information described above are used only to deliver the notification you requested.
All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information won’t be shared with any third parties. No mobile information will be shared with or sold to any third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.
To deliver a message, we transmit your mobile number and the message text to our SMS delivery provider, Twilio, and onward to your mobile carrier. They act solely as service providers, on our instruction, for the sole purpose of delivering that message. They are not permitted to use your number for their own purposes, for marketing, or to disclose it onward. This is delivery of the message you requested, not a sharing of your consent: your consent remains an agreement between you and Tern AI INC and is never transferred to anyone.
Your number is transmitted over encrypted connections and held only in service memory. The internal tools that collect it are restricted to authenticated Tern AI INC personnel.
This program is an internal operations tool for authorized personnel and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date above.
